This guitar requires dues to be paid. I was highly intrigued by the aesthetic of Tao guitars' T-bucket instruments. I liked both the square, inlaid pickguard idea as well as their flare for not only juxtaposing color, but also textures, in their instruments. This was really fun to do here with the high-gloss blue stabilized buckeye burl inlaid "pickguard" square, contrasted with the muted, satin pewter finish elsewhere.

It's no secret we like to mix things up and play with traditional designs. It's also a shame to us that you don't see many semi-hollow offset guitars since thinlines and wide-range style pickups are one of the coolest combinations! Here's our take on that theme.

What guitarist doesn't like a vintage instrument?! Sadly, it's a little difficult to create new-stock vintage guitars... not to mention we weren't around in the 60s to build this style either. But that shouldn't stop us from paying homage to one of the greatest looking instruments of all time: the 60s 3-tone sunburst and tortoise shell pickguard Jazzmaster!

In every batch on instruments out of the Experimental Labs we can't help but resist doing a wood-porn build. This guitar is that build. It features only the best top of the line woods to create a sultry madam.

The Raygun Experimental Labs doesn't often take custom orders... we're too busy playing with exciting new ideas in our heads! However, when a friend of the company approaches, asking you to simply build something cool that has a sun theme, it's hard to say no. Customers that give you all the freedom in the world to build the coolest guitars possible are the best!

Despite being a short-scale Model 2, this guitar was actually the first Model 2 ever built. It was the prototype guitar for what would become Raygun Engineering's Model 2 import line. Some of the cooler features are the blue paisley fabric finish (yes, that's actual fabric under there), custom chromed-steel control covers, and this ridiculously figured quilted birdseye maple fretboard.
